Hope Away from Home

In the spirit of the UNHCR World Refugee Day on 20 June, Borderless360 continued our commitment to empowering refugees through education and community support. We took an active role in commemorating this important occasion throughout the month of June. We engaged in various activities to mark this special day and to honour the strength, resilience, and achievements of our refugee students. By amplifying their stories, we aimed to foster a sense of unity, support, and hope away from home within the refugee community.

Listening and Sharing the Stories of Refugee Students

One of the highlights of our monthly celebration was the emphasis on sharing the stories, thoughts, and accomplishments of our adult refugee students. Recognizing the power of storytelling, Borderless360 showcased the educational journeys and achievements of these students on our social media platforms. By sharing their stories, our team aimed to raise awareness about the challenges and triumphs faced by refugees while highlighting their resilience and determination.

Amplifying Educational Achievements

Education plays a crucial role in empowering refugees and helping them rebuild their lives. We recognize and applaud the educational achievements of our students, in spite of the obstacles they face. From simply being able to sign up for classes, passing GED Maths and English exams, and Cambridge English tests to setting ambitious academic goals, these achievements were celebrated and acknowledged throughout World Refugee Month. By highlighting these accomplishments, we hoped to inspire and encourage other refugees and displaced persons, showcasing the transformative power of education.

Community Get-Together: Sharing, Encouraging, and Building Connections

In addition to celebrating individual achievements, Borderless360 organized a community get-together lunch as part of our World Refugee Month festivities.

This event provided an opportunity for refugees and supporters alike to come together, forge connections, and enjoy a day of tasty food, team games, sharing, and encouragement. By creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, we aimed to foster a sense of belonging and unity within the refugee community.

Free Online Educational Workshop: Empowering Refugees for Job Search

Recognizing the importance of employment and self-sustainability and the fact that many refugees may not have access to good training or educational courses, we arranged a free online educational workshop titled "How to Present and Market Yourself for Jobs." This valuable workshop, facilitated by Contagion Catalyst Hamzah Alsagoff from Singapore, provided refugees with practical guidance on effectively presenting themselves and marketing their skills during their job search.

By offering this resource, Borderless360 aimed to empower refugees and equip them with the necessary tools to secure employment and build a better future. Everyone deserves to succeed and we are here to support you on your journey!

Education for All

By amplifying the stories and achievements of our students, organizing a community get-together, and providing a free online educational workshop, B360 embraced the shared humanity that unites us all. Through our initiatives, we aimed to provide a glimmer of hope and support to those who have been forced to flee their homes. By standing together, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate world, where education and opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of their background or circumstances.
